Lost Foam Casting

Lost Foam Casting Systems

Lost Foam casting is an advanced casting technology based on the principle of placing a foam model into sand and pouring in molten metal, allowing the foam to evaporate and be replaced by metal. Unlike traditional methods, this technique allows the production of complex internal channels and detailed external geometries in a single process; it is unrivaled for high precision, especially in automotive and machine parts.

Why Lost Foam Casting Technology?

In precision foam molding, there are no mold parting lines. This radically reduces the need for post-casting leveling and grinding, while giving designers unlimited freedom on the part. The foam model, embedded in the sand, transfers even the most complex details flawlessly to the metal.

Advantages of Lost Foam Molding

Key benefits that add efficiency and quality to your production processes:

No Need for Cores: Because the complex internal channels are produced as part of the foam model, it eliminates laborious processes such as core manufacturing and assembly.

Reduces Assembly Requirements: Instead of joining multiple parts after casting, it allows all components to be cast as a single integrated (monoblock) unit.

Minimum Post-Casting Machining: Because parts are cast very close to their final form, the need for and cost of machining is reduced by 30-50%.

Fewer Mold Parts: Eliminates the need for complex mold sets found in traditional graded systems, simplifying the process flow.

High Dimensional Accuracy in Complex Shapes: Thanks to the dimensional stability of the foam model, millimeter precision is achieved even in the most complex geometries.

No Mold Parting Line : Eliminates defects and burrs caused by mold parting points, ensuring a flawless surface finish.
